Lily Cup Compact Features

Lily Cup Sizing:

SIZE A – Light Pink For those who have not given birth or have only given birth via cesarean. A great size if you have a light to moderate flow.

Dimensions: 42mm diameter | 58mm total length (including stem) | 18ml capacity

SIZE B – Dark Pink For those who have given birth vaginally or who have a weaker pelvic floor. A great size if you have a heavy flow.

Dimensions: 45mm diameter | 58mm total length (including stem) | 23ml capacity

Before using your Lily Cup for the first time, it is recommended that you boil it for 5 minutes in order to sterilise it.

Insertion:

  1. Before handling your cup, always wash your hands.
  2. Fold your Lily Compact using either the c-fold, or half v-fold. Try each of these and pick the one that works best for you. You will be inserting the pointed end first.
  3. Like a tampon, angle the cup towards your tailbone and insert it into the vaginal canal.
  4. Release the fold and your Lily cup will open up.
  5. Gently squeeze the base of the cup and rotate it slightly to ensure it has fully opened and formed a light seal with the vaginal walls.
  6. The cup (including the stem) should sit lower than a tampon but be completely inside the vagina.
  7. If you find the stem is too long for you, it can be trimmed shorter using scissors.

  Removal:

  1. Relax your body and use your vaginal muscles to gently push your cup downwards.
  2. Grip the stem and gently pull downwards until you can feel the base of the cup. DO NOT pull the cup out by the stem.
  3. Squeeze the base of the Lily Cup to release the seal.
  4. Pull the cup down and just before you remove it, angle it slightly to help prevent spillage.
  5. Discard the menstrual fluid, wash the cup, then re-insert.

As with all menstrual cups, you should rinse your cup with clean water each time you empty and re-insert it. Washing with a specially formulated cup wash or oil and scent free soap is particularly good at some point during each day of your cycle. Once your period is finished, sterilise your cup and allow it to completely air dry before storing.

Lily Cup FAQ's

Yes, the Lily Cup Compact is quite a small cup and a great choice for people with a low cervix position. With the stem removed, the Lily Cup Compact only measures 48mm long.

The Lily Cup compact is a very different design to the original Lily Cup, and cannot be folded into a tampon shape. The best folds to use with the Lily Cup Compact are the ‘c’ or ‘v’ folds.

We would not recommend the Lily Cup Compact if you have a very heavy flow, unless you are only using it towards the end of your period when your flow lessens. The largest size Lily Cup Compact only holds 23ml of menstrual fluid, compared to 30ml for most larger sized cups and 50ml for many discs.

The Lily Cup Compact is not a very long cup and is best suited to people with a low to mid height cervix. If you have a high cervix, you would be better to consider the original Lily Cup or the Hello High Cervix cup.

Because the Lily Cup Compact can be folded down flat and stored in it’s own container, it’s a great option to keep in your handbag or in the car. It takes up little space and will be on hand when you need it!

No. The Lily Cup Compact does not have measuring lines, so you will be unable to accurately measure your amount of menstrual fluid loss. As a guide, Lily A holds 18ml and Lily B holds 23ml.
