How Our Journey Began...
It started around a dining table. In 2015, I (Naomi) was sitting around a dining table at my in-laws place with two of my sister-in-laws. In conversation, one said, ‘Have you heard of menstrual cups?’. A little shocked, but curious, I replied, ‘menstrual what?!?’. She told us about her experience using the Juju cup and I went home that evening to do some research. I was intrigued, and having eCommerce experience with another business we were operating at the time, we looked into the potential of opening another online store. At the time, there were only a handful of menstrual cup brands available to the Australian market, and there was no central store where they could be compared, explained, and purchased. That’s when MCA Online began.
A Changing Business Environment...
When MCA Online was established, there were strict TGA regulations applied to menstrual cups. After a few years, these were significantly reduced, opening up the Australian market to many more brands and styles. This provided us with the opportunity to start importing International brands. This also made it easier for other Australian businesses to begin producing and selling cups. While this rapid expansion in brand options has had implications, it has also provided plenty of choice for customers looking for their perfect cup. This choice was further expanded with the creation of menstrual discs. Throughout all this time, our vision has remained the same – to be a central store for the comparison, education, and shopping of menstrual cups and discs. Our aim is to have a cup or disc for EVERYbody and we are here to help you make the switch to a more sustainable menstrual journey.Â
Today...
As a Tasmanian family run business (that’s all 5 kids too!), we continue to source, evaluate, and sell menstrual cups and discs to people all around Australia.
It is our aim to ensure people have access to the most accurate and up to date information to assist them in making an informed purchase decision. We hold all stock on our premises. This means your order will be placed with us and sent by us. It will not be drop shipped by the manufacturer, or come from an overseas based store.
