Please note: Menstrual discs are NOT intended to be used as a form of contraception and will not prevent pregnancy. If condoms are your only method of birth control, it is recommended to remove your menstrual disc rather than use them together. It is possible that friction between the disc and the condom could create a micro-tear in the condom.

Insertion: If you are used to using regular menstrual cups, it may take some practice to master the insertion and placement of the Ziggy Cup. You do not use the standard ‘cup folds‘ with the Ziggy. It is simply a matter of gently squeezing it together and then sliding it in while in a sitting position. It is a different shape, thinner and softer, and is designed to sit differently to traditional menstrual cups once inserted. You should angle the Ziggy back and on a slight downward angle (towards the tip of your tailbone) while inserting, to ensure the cup positions behind your cervix. Then tuck the front rim of the cup behind your pelvic bone.  Removal: The different design of the Ziggy Cup may also make removal a messier process than removal of a regular menstrual cup. Insert your finger and hook it behind the front rim of the Ziggy (the part behind your pubic bone). Gently pull the cup out maintaining a horizontal angle. We recommend practising this as much as possible at home, before trying it in a public restroom. While the capacity states 50 or 76ml, this may be a bit un-realistic in practice. The effectiveness of the cup may be compromised when completely full to the brim. All menstrual cups are recommended to be emptied and re-inserted every 12 hours, no matter how full or empty they are. Just because the Ziggy can hold up to 5 or 76ml, doesn’t necessarily mean that you should wear it until it does!
As with all menstrual cups, you should rinse your Ziggy with clean water each time you empty and re-insert it. Washing with a specially formulated cup wash or oil and scent-free soap is particularly good at some point during each day of your cycle. Once your period is finished, sterilise your cup and allow it to completely air dry before storing. The Ziggy can also be sterilised in a microwave cup sterilizer.
Ziggy Cup FAQ's
With practice, you should be able to insert the Ziggy cup with one hand. However, you may find it easier to use two hands in the beginning. Use one hand to pinch the cup, making the ‘figure 8’ shape, and use the other hand to push apart your labia and guide the cup into place.
Once you have inserted your Ziggy Cup, run your finger around the full circumference, and just below the rim of the disc. You should not be able to feel your cervix sitting outside of the disc. As you approach the front of the disc, feel to ensure it is tucked securely behind the pubic bone.
If your menstrual disc keeps slipping out from behind your pubic bone, you may need a different size. If it feels like it is ‘springing’ out of place, you may need a smaller disc. If it doesn’t seem to hold securely in place, you may need a larger size.
You may also be inserting the disc at the wrong angle. Make sure you aim towards the tip of your tailbone and scoop your cervix into the back of the disc.
The Ziggy Cup is not a perfectly round shape like most other discs. It does have a front and a back. Ensure the end with the grip tab is the last part to enter the vagina. This is the end that tucks up behind your pubic bone.
Yes. All discs are messier to remove than standard menstrual cups. To reduce mess, try to keep the cup at a horizontal angle as you remove it. You can also use some toilet paper to grab the rim of the cup when removing. This way the toilet paper will absorb any spilt blood, rather than your fingers. The least messy discs to take out are generally ones that have a removal notch or tab.

I was contemplating menstrual discs for a few months before I ended up buying the ziggy cup 2 but I’m very glad I did. Its a bit tricky to use at first but after a day or two it was easy. One of my favourite things is that I don’t need to take a tampon with me to the toilet, I can just take out the cup, wipe it out, and put it back in. It also worked really well for period sex (on one of my lighter days) and my partner said he didn’t notice it at all and I couldn’t tell it was there.

I love the texture and shape of the Ziggy Cup. You may need to use two hands when inserting as the rim of the Ziggy Cup is firm and does not always want to stay in the figure ‘8’ shape when inserting. The process I used was to pinch the back of the disc (opposite to the end with the grip zone) with my right hand, it created the figure ‘8’ shape initially and then use my left hand to push the remainder of the disc in while still using my right hand to keep the cup in the correct shape for positioning. The Ziggy Cup did not feel uncomfortable when inserted. It is very difficult to remove, even with the grip zone on the front of the disc, which means manipulating yourself into a position that enables you to obtain a strong grip with thumb and index finger to grab onto the rim and to pull the Ziggy Cup out which for me has been very difficult and somewhat messy!
Easy to clean with wipes as you need something stronger than toilet paper to clean in the groove that runs inside the rim.

Found the ziggy cup much easier to use than the Lily cup. Very comfortable and didn’t move once in place. Very happy with this purchase, would highly recommend.

Awesome! Way better than a cup and feels much more secure

Sigh. Such high hopes! Sadly, not right for me.
Even the samller size was uncomfortably large causing a constant ‘pressing’ feeling, moves out of place resulting in severe leakage, and uncomfortable during seggsy time for me and my partner. Looking forward to seeing this style develop as would be keen to try again!
Frustrating as I’ve now spend around $200 trying different cups which have nowhere to go but the bin, only to revert back to my ol’ faithfu Juju (got 20% to swap out a size but customer service was not good).
Big advocate for cups though – it is worth it when you find your fit!

Took a bit to get used to inserting as different to a regular period cup. But works so well!

Have used a normal cup for years now, the Ziggy cup doesn’t feel like it will stay in.

I’m hoping I just need a bit more practice as I experienced quite a bit of leaking. It’s very comfortable compared to a bell shaped cup that I also tried, but definitely needed panty liners and tampons on the heavy days.

I still couldn’t figure out how to use it properly or it is too big for me. Every time I inserted the cup I had a leak even though I inserted it very deep.

Easier to insert than I thought it would be, now I just have to try it out whilst having sex

I love this disc. It is easy to insert and remove. Slightly messier than regular cups however I change mine in the shower twice a day so not an issue for me. The cup feels nice and soft and the rim is sturdy. It is comfortable to wear and easy to forget I even have my period. I don’t usually have to empty it during the day however it is easy to check if it is getting full (I do this when I pee especially on heavy days) and I can also empty it without removing. I was using a lunette size 2 that I turned inside out as size 1 was too small and size 2 was slightly too big however the Ziggy disc is now my everyday cup (sorry lunette). I have not tried period sex with it in so can’t comment on that part.

I have tried other cups before and because of prolapse I could always feel the stalk at the bottom. This one is soft throughout and has been perfect. A little tricker to get in and out but I am getting the hang of it.
