How to use the Ruby Sterilizer:
- Fill your Ruby Sterilizer 3/4 full. Make sure the sterilizer IS NOT completely full to ensure it does not overflow.
- DO NOT close the lid, just place it loosely on top (otherwise it pops open from the heat pressure and hot water will spill).
- Place the sterilizer (with your menstrual cup or disc inside) into the microwave. Microwave for 3 minutes, or enough time to bring the water to a boil and to leave it boiling for a few minutes.
- After it is boiled BE CAREFUL not to burn yourself – the sterilizer will be very hot. Once the water has cooled down, you can take out your menstrual cup.
- Your cup is now clean, sterilised and ready to use during your next menstrual cycle.
- Once finished, you can clean the Ruby Sterilizer in the dishwasher.
- Please make sure Ruby Sterilizer is completely dry before storing it away.

Ruby Sterilizer FAQ's
Yes, you can! The Ruby Clean can be used to sterilize any brand of silicone menstrual cup or disc.
Your cup will naturally float to the top of your sterilizer once it is filled with water. This is ok, as the steam created around your cup by the boiling water sanitises it.
Once the water in the ruby sterilizer has been boiled, the outside of the sterilizer will be VERY hot. We recommend leaving it to cool in the microwave before removing to avoid spillage and burns.
No microwave? no problem! Since the Ruby Clean is made of silicone and designed to withstand high heat, you can use it in the oven. Preheat your oven, place the filled Ruby clean on a tray and make sure the water comes to the boil for a few minutes. Allow to cool before handling.
You only need to use the Ruby sterilizer at the beginning and end of your period. This ensures it is clean and ready to use before and after being stored for a long time. During your period, rinsing and/or washing your cup or disc between changes with a specially formulated menstrual cup wash is sufficient.

The ruby steriliser is not great with The Super Jennie Cup as the cup is too big for the steriliser.

Hi, Thank you for your review. The larger menstrual cups, or long cups with an untrimmed stem may not be completely covered with water as you should only fill the steriliser 3/4 full. However, the cup does not need to be completely submerged. The steam will still sterilise any parts of the cup not covered in water. I hope this helps clear things up 🙂

You can slum it with a pot of boiling water on the stove. But you don’t want to cross contaminate your pots & you’ve got to watch over it & keep an eye on the time. This is easy & foolproof. Fill 3/4 with water & zap for 3 minutes.

I really like the sterilizer. It makes my life so much easier and less gross haha. However, I would like it to be a bit bigger so that the water level can cover the whole menstrual cup. Other than that I totally recommend to get one.
