Hello Period | Menstrual Disc
Say ‘Hello’ to the menstrual disc that is changing the period game. The Hello Disc is comfortable, easy to use, convenient, and innovative. One disc can now replace all those disposable pads and tampons!
This revolutionary Disc was the result of a design collaboration between HelloTM and Kim Rosas – menstrual cup expert, advocate, speaker, and registered nurse. Together they designed the Hello Disc with a unique patented double-loop removal tab. This tab makes for easier, single finger removal and emptying.
Hello Disc features:
- 50ml Capacity – that’s more than 5 tampons
- Made from 100% medical grade silicone
- Reusable – lasts years
- No suction – IUD and pelvic floor friendly
- Made from soft hypoallergenic medical grade silicone
- BPA free
- Suitable for mess free period sex. However, Menstrual discs are NOT intended to be used as a form of contraception and will not prevent pregnancy. If condoms are your only method of birth control, it is recommended to remove your menstrual disc rather than use them together. It is possible that friction between the disc and the condom could create a micro-tear in the condom.
- A handy ‘one size fits most’ – 68mm diameter
- Four ways to position the tab
- Suitable for all cervix heights
- Tab length of 48mm
- FDA registered, Vegan friendly, and is packaged in compostable packaging.
- Please note: In order to reduce waste and their carbon footprint, the Hello Disc no longer comes with a cotton storage bag.

The unique tab on the Hello Disc can be positioned four different ways to suit various anatomies:
- Tucked Tuck the tab underneath and out of the way. Best suited for people with low/average cervix height, or for sex.
- Flipped The bottom loop is pulled through the top loop from behind. Best suited for people with an average cervix height or if you don’t yet know your cervix height.
- Dropped The length of the tab is ‘free’ and hangs down. Best suited for people with a high cervix or who have trouble reaching/gripping their menstrual cup or disc.
- Trimmed The second loop is cut off. It is not recommended to cut the entire tab off. Trimming the tab is best suited to people with a low cervix or who find the tab causes discomfort.
Hello Disc Sizing:
The Hello Disc is a ‘one size fits most’ product and is suitable for all cervix heights.
Dimensions: 68mm diameter | 48mm tab length | 50ml capacity
Before first using your Hello Disc, please sterilise it by either boiling in a pot of water for 3-5 minutes, using a microwave cup steriliser, or by soaking in a solution made with a sterilisation tablet.Â
Insertion:
- Wash your hands before inserting or removing your Hello Disc.
- Sit on the loo or try standing with one foot resting on the toilet seat.
- Depending on your cervix height, decide how you will position the loop of the Hello Disc: Tucked, flipped, dropped, or trimmed.
- Fold your Hello Disc longways by pinching between your thumb and forefinger.
- With a firm hold on your disc, angle it slightly backward toward the tip of your tailbone rather than ‘straight up’. Insert the entire disc into your vaginal canal until you can insert it no further. The tab end should be the final part of the disc to be inserted.
- Use your finger to push the rim of the disc up and tuck it behind your pubic bone, making sure the tab is centred. Hint: Before inserting your disc, feel for the ‘ledge’ of your pubic bone so you know how high up the disc should be sitting.
 Removal:
- The length of time you can use your Hello Disc before needing to empty it will be determined largely on your level of flow. However, you should not wear your disc for more than 12 hours.
- To remove the Hello Disc, locate the removal tab. Gently and carefully pull the disc down and out, trying to keep it upright to reduce spills and mess.
- Empty, rinse, and reinsert.
Your Hello Disc does not need to be boiled or sterilised during your period. This is best done before first using it and then at the end of each period. After sterilisation, allow the disc to air dry and then store it out of direct sunlight.
During your period, simply rinse the disc under cold water or give it a clean with a menstrual cup cleanser. Ensure any residual cleanser has been completely rinsed off before reinserting the disc.
Some staining is normal in any brand of menstrual disc (especially in lighter colours). To help reduce staining, it is best to rinse your disc in cold water after removing. If staining has set in, then you can try using a dilution of white vinegar and water, or lemon juice and water in a 1:2 ratio. Let you disc soak in this mixture overnight and then wash as normal in the morning. Hello Period have also formulated a Hello Wash and Hello Go Travel Spray which can be used to clean any brand of menstrual cup or disc.

Hello Disc FAQ's
Due to the cleverly designed pull tab, which can be worn 4 ways, the Hello Disc is suitable for all cervix heights.
If you have a low cervix, we recommend chopping the first loop of the discs tab. If you have a high cervix, let the tab hang down for easier retrieval.
Unlike all of the Hello menstrual cups, which are made out of TPE, the Hello Disc is made from medical grade silicone. This makes it unsuitable for people who may have sensitivities to silicone.
Yes you can! Tuck the tab so that it’s out of the way and have fun.
Please note: Menstrual discs are not a form of contraception and cannot protect against pregnancy or STI’s
Given the softer silicone that the Hello Disc is made from, it is more suitable for people with a sensitive bladder or frequent UTI’s than the Hello menstrual cups.
Both the Hello Low Cervix Cup and the Hello Disc are suitable for use if you have a low lying cervix.
Everyone’s anatomy is different and some people have more success with a menstrual disc rather than a cup and vice versa. The main differences include:
- Cups use suction to stay in place whereas discs stay in place by lodging behind the pubic bone.
- Discs are messier to remove and you cannot accurately measure your level of flow. They can also ‘autodump’ which can be both a great feature and a not so great one if uncontrolled!Â
- Discs hold more volume than cups, however, they still should not be worn for more than 12 hours.
Yes. The Hello Disc does not rely on suction to stay in place, so strong pelvic floor muscles are less likely to ‘crush’ the seal and cause leakage.
The severity of your prolapse may impact the success you have with the Hello Disc. For most people with a mild prolapse, they have more success with a disc than a cup. When inserting, you may need to ‘push’ the prolapse up and out of the way a bit so that you can position the disc behind the pubic bone.
Menstrual discs are also generally a better option than cups, as they don’t rely on suction to stay in place and are less likely to exasperate the prolapse further.

Only had 1 cycle of using but so far it’s a much better solution than the cup for me. More comfortable, easy to insert and remove. I did have a couple of leaks but I am sure this will improve the more I use it and get used to it.

I’ve been a cup user for years but have a high cervix, so I sometimes have difficulty retrieving the cup and breaking the suction. I also find the stalk a little uncomfortable and the rim presses on my urethra at times. I’ve tried the disc and loved it! It was so easy to insert and retrieve, no leaks, and very comfortable. The rings are easy to tuck away and I can truly forget I’m wearing it. I’m converted!

I’ve tried multiple menstrual cups but just couldn’t make it work, they would always leak.
I just finished my first period using the Hello Disc and I wish I had just tried this from the start. No leaks, super easy to insert, no issues whatsoever!

The Hello Disc has made my period a whole lot more comfortable. I have a heavy period and the self emptying means I don’t have to remove a cup every couple of hours like I used it. I find inserted a disc much easier than a cup, it’s very comfortable to wear and doesn’t leak for me. The only small downside is that removal is messier than with a cup but to be the advantages far outweigh that.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t hold enough overnight for me. I had hoped that I would have a better result than the cup with it holding more volume but it still overflowed overnight for me. Having said that, peri-menopause is causing havoc with very heavy flows atm. Otherwise, it’s great. I can’t feel it once inserted and it doesn’t leak under normal flow. A great product for 99% of women.

After trying a couple of menstrual cups several times, I was unsure how good this could be but WOW! The packaging and instructions are easy to follow and the disc itself is very user friendly and much easier to clean. With the cups I was never sure if I’d inserted them correctly but it was really clear when using the disc. Once in you can’t tell it’s there, completely comfortable.
One thing to note, as it is wider, removing it causes some mild stretching feelings in the vagina, vulva and general pelvic floor. As I removed it the first few times, it unexpectedly triggered some birth trauma I didn’t realise I had. Knowing ahead of time that it would feel like that might have helped me prepare myself more.
That said, in spite of those sensations, this is hands down the best period product I’ve used.

Do not regret purchasing. Wanted to love menstrual cups, but just couldn’t get them to work for me. Found this product and will never go back to anything else! Super easy, super convenient and environmentally friendly, what’s not to love?!

I have used a cup for years and this disc is a game changer. It is so much easier to insert and remove compared to a cup and it’s comfortable and easy to clean. I’d definitely recommend the switch.

I first tried a cup but found the removal difficult and unpractical so I thought I would give a disk a go and found it to be a fantastic product but I think this would work better for me if the sink was in the same room as my bathroom

Where have you been all my menstruating life!? What a revelation. I have struggled with cups and leaking/placement issues. This is a game changer. I’m early 40s and experiencing the perimenopause symptoms of heavier periods. This has really helped. I was soaking through the heaviest flow tampons and was scared to be away from a bathroom. Not anymore. The only downside I experienced is how messy removal is. But that might be user error. If you are on the fence, get off on the side of trying this disc. It will give you freedom and confidence.

This was the first time I was anxiously waiting for my period so I could finally use this product. I loved it. Used it for the first time over night and I was happy and shocked to see that there was no leakage. Obviously a little bit messy when you have to empty it in public but no biggie. Much better than any cup I have tried. Once you get the right angle and how to place the tab its all happy days. Have already recommended to other people.

I’ve purchased SO MANY CUPS, and Hello cup is the best I’ve used. I decided to try a disc, and omgosh it’s a MASSIVE level up. Comfortable, easy to insert/remove, effective (took me a few times to make it leak-free – but the auto-dump is THE BEST for my extremely heavy flow). Believer for life.

I cannot express how much I love this product. I’ve used menstrual cups for years but I’m sick of them leaking, the difficulty getting them out and the discomfort of getting them in so I thought I’d try this. It is beyond amazing, it’s a learning curve to get it in and out but truly amazing. The autodump feature is my favourite, they’re so easy to clean and the little grabby hook part!?!? I’m telling everyone I know about these things. Very much worth it!

Desperately tried to make menstrual cups work, but every time I bent down the seal would break and it’d leak. Tried a disc on recommendation from a friend, and I couldn’t be happier. If you struggle with cups and think that reusable pads are your only option (they’re also great, but keeping on top of cleaning can be cumbersome) this may be just the thing to make it work. Heavier periods will mean that you may have to empty it every 4-6 hours on the first two days or so, but it’s more comfortable than tampons by a mile.

Hello Disc, is very ridge in design and has a firm rim that made it very hard for me to keep the figure ‘8’ shape with one or even two hands. It was finicky to use and because the rim is very firm it seems while I was using it that I had pressure on my bladder and felt like I constantly needed to urinate. While the pull tab made it easy enough to remove (using toilet paper to catch initial blood flow as it was being removed, reduced mess). Re-insertion was just as finicky as the initial insertion.
Easy to clean with toilet paper or wipes on the go.

Was much easier to use than I thought I’d be. Glad to have a eco friendly alternative to pass and tampons!

This disc beats my other disc by 1000! It’s a cheaper price than my original disc and they even have their own wash to go with! The quality is very nice. I have been using it for a while and have had no leakage whatsoever, it is amazing! And the tab makes things so easy!, my last disc was often hard to pull out! This one has a nice circle for you to loop your finger into and also can be tucked away easily. My only two issues are 1. the light colour leads to quick staining. However, I was able to scrub it out! But just be mindful of that. and 2. I remember the box being a little more geared to feminine menstruators. So for some menstruators the packaging might be off putting.

I’d been using a Lunette cup for years which is great but I do not like the removal process/suction. I was a little scared of trying a disc for 1. fear of not being able to retrieve it and 2. the thought of pushing it above my pubic bone (I didn’t really understand the anatomy) made me cringe. The tabs on the Hello Disc gave me enough confidence to try it. It turned out to be pretty easy to use and yes, there is enough space way up there for a big disc thing. I will be using it instead of the cup from on now.
