What is the Mia Amika Cup?

The Mia Amika menstrual cup is the beginning of an eco-friendly period. It’s kind to your body, the planet, and your budget.

Mia Amika Features:

  • Eco-friendly. Not only is the Mia Amika a reusable menstrual option, for every Mia Amika cup sold, they plant a tree.
  • FDA certified 100% medical grade silicone. BPA, Latex, and Chemical free.
  • Four air holes to allow better suction and easier removal.
  • Effective leak proof protection for up to 8hrs. You can travel, swim, exercise, and sleep comfortably and worry free.
  • Hypoallergenic and biocompatible. Menstrual cups do not negatively affect the natural vaginal pH levels.
  • One cup equals several years of period freedom.
  • Easy to grab, non-slip, no-sensation stem.
  • Rounded edges and seams.
  • Volume markings.
  • Extra Long. Including the stem, this is one of the longest cups available. This makes it ideal for women with a very high cervixor for women who have had a ‘lost cup’ experience. Alternatively, trim the stem and the cup is also suitable for a mid cervix height.
  • 100% cotton storage bag included.

Size Guide:

Small: Suitable for women aged under 25 who have never given birth. Younger women with a heavy flow might also find this size suitable. If this cup feels loose or you are emptying it every couple of hours, we recommend you try a regular size Mia Amika cup.

Regular: Suitable for women aged over 25 or who have given birth. If you feel the cup or it is uncomfortable, despite proper insertion and positioning, we recommend you try a small Mia Amika cup.

How to use the Mia Amika Cup:

Insertion:

  1. Wash your hands
  2. Fold your Mia Amika your preferred way, and while firmly holding, guide the cup into the vagina.
  3. You can use a water-based lubricant around the rim of the cup to make insertion easier.
  4. Once inserted and positioned, let go of the cup and it should ‘pop’ open and create a suction seal around the vaginal wall.
  5. You can hold the base of the cup and rotate it to ensure it has opened fully.
  6. If inserted correctly, you should not feel your Mia Amika or experience leaks.

Removal:

  1. Your Mia Amika should be emptied at least every 8 hours.
  2. Wash your hands.
  3. Use the stem to locate the bottom of the cup.
  4. While sitting over a toilet or standing in the shower, pinch the base of the cup to release the suction.
  5. Gently drag the Mia Amika down and out of the vagina.
  6. Empty into the toilet, rinse under cold water and re-insert.

You should replace your Mia Amika if it is showing any signs of deterioration, if you accidentally drop it in the toilet, or if you used it while you had a vaginal infection.

How to Clean the Mia Amika:

Your Mia Amika is not supplied in a sterile state, so it’s important to sterilize it before first use and again at the end of each cycle. Soak the cup in boiling water for 5 minutes.

During your cycle you can use a menstrual cup cleanser and wash under running water.
